The Chief's first born (Chishi Samuel Prou) and his side kicks.
Dear Manipur, thank you for giving me an amazing time and never to be forgotten moments.
You are wounded and scarred, yet your hearts emit warmth and kindness. I don’t know how you do that with all that wounded heart of yours? Is the divine sustaining you or what is it? Whatever it is, I have fallen in love with your courage and your kindness at the same time.
I noticed that the number of army trucks patrolling, ready-to-shoot AK-47s, from Dimapur (Nagaland) to Senapati (Manipur) are very high and more active than I saw around the border of my state (Arunachal Pradesh) and China. It is indeed very very sad.
I ate and dined with women who showed me their bare bodies revealing marks of bullets that shot right through them. Seems they kept running for dear life not realizing how much blood they have left on the path. Feeling the pain was not an option. Some witnessing skulls burst open into miniscule powders in the air. I knew friends from Manipur who had come face to face with bullets, and saw dead bodies like the summer rains. Bullets too like rain, but only to take their lives.
I’m sorry my country doesn’t know your story and a lot more states like you. Whenever I sit to talk about the Northeast, it really hurts and depresses me deeply…
So, let me share my wonderful experiences that I had there and let me spread some love.
Kodom Khavii Village:
During my stay in Kodom Village of the Poumai tribe, they fed me so well I could hardly walk sometimes.
Enjoyed every day, running up and the down the village like a child. Thoroughly enjoyed the Daonii/Thounii festival, the whooping and the wrestling match were glorious.
Towards the end of my stay in the village, the Chief gifted me a white traditional muffler saying that I brought light in the village because I always smiled hence the white color. That's a HUUUUUUGE compliment. But I was only smiling because of them.
Thank you Kodom Village, thank you Manipur. I loved every bit of you.
Love and Strength
